I’m Going To...
‘I’m going to…’ So, you must be planning to do something in the near future, and probably want to tell others about it. In this English lesson, we’ll learn some phrases that you can use to communicate your plans with your friends, family, and other people.
In this lesson you will learn phrases that you can use to discuss your future planning.

Hello dear viewer! We plan out things ahead, and we love to share our plans with our family and friends, don’t we? When we talk about things we have planned, we use “I’m going to” to start the sentence. In this lesson we’re going to see a lot of ‘I’m going to’ conversations.

Moving To Another State
Lindsey : Why are you packing all this stuff?
Walter : I’m going to Sydney.
Lindsay : You what? You didn’t tell me!
Walter : Well, I got a call from my boss. He said I’ve got to board tomorrow’s flight.
Lindsay : Is everything alright?
Walter : I think there’s some problem there in the sales team. I’ve been asked to sort it out.
Lindsey : I see... Well... take care of yourself and have a safe journey.
Having Dinner Out
Denise : What should I cook for dinner tonight?
Jack : Don’t bother for me. I’m going to have dinner out today.
Denise : Is there any special occasion?
Jack : Yup. One of my friends is throwing her birthday party. Our whole class is invited to her house for barbecue night.
Denise : That sounds good! Alright, have fun then!
To The Party
Denise : Hey, where are you going?
Walter : I’m going to the downtown weekend party. Do you want to come along?
Denise : No, I already have some other plans.
Walter : Alright! See you tomorrow then.
Denise : I won’t be here tomorrow. I’m going to board tonight’s flight to Queensland.
Walter : Are you going on a vacation?
Denise : Yup. I’m going along with some friends. You won’t see me around for some days.
Walter: Alright! Have fun!
What’s For Dinner
Walter : What are you cooking for dinner?
Lindsey : I’m going to cook something special today.
Walter: Special? What’s today’s special then?
Lindsey : I’m going to prepare scallops with asparagus made in white truffle.
Walter : That sounds really tempting! Is there anything for dessert?
Lindsey : That’s a surprise. You’ll have to wait for it dear!
Vocabulary
Downtown: Downtown means the busy centre of a city where a variety of stores are available.
Barbecue : Barbecue is a type of cooking done outdoors directly on fire. When you have a barbecue with friends, it’s fun.
Going on a vacation : Going for a vacation means to go away for some time to another place to relax and have fun. It’s also called going on a holiday.
Tempting : When something is tempting, it’s something that you like very much and want to have. You can use the word tempting for food, or for anything that creates a strong feeling of desire in you.
Dessert : The dessert is the sweet dish at the end of the meal.
